How to fill a drawer with Gridfinity
- Measure the inside of the drawer (width and depth in mm) and enter it above.
- Choose your printer – tiles are split so each one fits its bed.
- Keep Fill the leftover gap on: the space that is not a multiple of 42 mm becomes a flat border on the outer tiles, so the grid sits snug.
- Download the tiles as an STL ZIP (one file per tile, named by row and column) or as one 3MF, print and drop them in.
How the layout is calculated
The drawer is divided into 42 mm cells, leaving 0.5 mm of clearance. Cells are spread over the fewest tiles that fit your bed, with tiles of nearly equal size, so no thin leftover strips need printing. The leftover space is split evenly to both sides.
| Drawer | Grid | Tiles on a 256 mm bed |
|---|---|---|
| 400 × 300 mm | 9 × 7 | 4 (5+4 × 4+3) |
| 500 × 400 mm | 11 × 9 | 4 |
| 250 × 250 mm | 5 × 5 | 1 |
Then add bins with the Gridfinity bin generator – with compartments, magnet holes and label shelves.
