How to 3D print a QR code that scans
- Paste your link or text. Shorter text = fewer modules = bigger pixels.
- Keep the module size at 2 mm or more for a 0.4 mm nozzle (about 1.5 mm is the practical minimum).
- Print the base in white and the code in black: pause the print at the base height and swap filament.
- Keep the quiet zone (a light border of 2–4 modules) – scanners need it.
Which error correction?
| Level | Recovers | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| L | ~7 % | Smallest code, indoor signs |
| M | ~15 % | Good default |
| Q | ~25 % | Outdoor or worn surfaces |
| H | ~30 % | Rough prints, partial damage |

Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't my printed QR code scan?
Usually low contrast (same colour for code and base), modules smaller than the nozzle can print cleanly, or a missing quiet zone. Use two colours and 2 mm modules.
Can I make a Wi-Fi QR code?
Yes – type WIFI:S:YourNetwork;T:WPA;P:YourPassword;; as the text. Anyone who scans it can join the network.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The QR code is generated in your browser.
