How resin use is calculated
Resin use is the model's volume plus supports and raft, plus a little waste for cleaning and failed prints. 1 cm³ of a model is 1 ml of resin. Supports usually add 10–30 %, depending on orientation and support density. Hollowed models use much less – measure the hollowed STL your slicer exports.
Typical numbers
| Typical resin | |
|---|---|
| 28 mm tabletop miniature | 1–3 ml |
| 75 mm bust (hollow) | 15–30 ml |
| Dental model (hollow, horseshoe) | 8–20 ml |
| Dental model (solid) | 25–45 ml |
Frequently asked questions
Does the calculator account for hollowing?
It uses the volume of the file you drop. If you hollow the model in your slicer, export the hollowed STL and measure that.
Why does my slicer show a different number?
Slicers include their own supports and sometimes the vat residue. Set the supports percentage to match your usual results.
