How it works

Each pixel's brightness becomes a height. In relief mode bright areas are raised – good for logos, signs and embossed tiles. In lithophane mode dark areas are thicker, so when the print is lit from behind, the thick parts block more light and the photo appears.

Settings explained

  • Width – final width in millimetres; height follows the image's aspect ratio.
  • Minimum / maximum thickness – the thinnest and thickest point of the plate. For lithophanes 0.8 mm and 3.2 mm are a good start.
  • Frame – a solid border that makes the print stronger and easier to stand up.
  • Detail – the distance between height samples. Finer means more triangles and bigger files.
  • Smoothing – softens noise and JPEG artefacts.

Printing tips

  • Print lithophanes upright (standing on the long edge) with 100 % infill and a 0.4 mm or smaller nozzle.
  • Use white or natural PLA, or a light resin.
  • For logos, start from a high-contrast black-and-white PNG.

Frequently asked questions

What image works best?

A sharp photo with good contrast. For lithophanes, portraits and landscapes with clear light and shadow look best; crop the image to the shape you want before uploading.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The image is turned into a 3D model inside your browser; it never leaves your device.
